A Family Driftwood Project in Progress

The construction of our driftwood holiday wreath is underway. As some of you might remember the one I made many years ago was accidentally destroyed last year. Emotionally I am torn over that, because while I had a fondness for that wreath, I am also pretty chuffed to be making a brand new one, well as “brand new” as a driftwood item can be classified.

The question of whether or not to try and replicate the former wreath never crossed my mind, as I see this as a clear opportunity to create something fresh. In addition, I have asked my kids to think about what they would like to see added on to the wood base, as I think it is a nice family project. Well, I believe it could be at least; the verdict will stay out on that until I hear back from them.

Secretly, I am hopeful that they will bring forth other natural items to embellish the basic wreath. And if they do not arrive at this conclusion on their own, my second line of hope comes in that they will receive some guidance from my wife prior to bringing me anything completely off kilter. But, if they do, I recognise I opened the door and invited their participation, so what they decide goes. Though, I have to admit that I have been shamelessly dropping hints to my eldest.
