Driftwood Helps Adults Revive Their Imagination

Just about anyone who visits a shoreline is drawn to driftwood that they encounter during their stay. A person can be called from a lackadaisical lounge on a sandy beach to a far off image jutting out of the earth a ways down that beach. Many will be swayed to hop up and seek out the item in order to investigate it closer. No matter what the individuals background or everyday interests, that piece of wood takes hold of them for a brief time, and sometimes even a lifetime.

Those who cross paths with driftwood tend to contemplate whether it can be made into something of use. Specifically, whether they could fashion that wood into something noteworthy. Thoughts that maybe they could make wooden furniture, birdhouses, art projects, or other items arise. Most commonly, the person walks away empty handed, but still have awoken their imagination at least temporarily. But, still there are those of us who commit to creating something from the piece, something to call our own. Our minds open up, and possibilities emerge as they did in childhood. No matter what the end result, this brush with our imagination is a welcomed and beautiful experience.
