Make Your Own Car Seat Covers

A good measure of a person's personality is the interior of his car, and just because you bought a generic, off-the-factory-line model does not mean that you cannot make any creative adjustments of your own. There are lots of ways on how you can make your car reflect who you really are and one way to do this is by designing and making your very own car seat covers. All you will need to do is set aside a little free time, gather some materials, and follow the steps below.

First off, assemble the materials you will need for this project. For the fabric of your seat cover, you can make your selection from vinyl, cloth, leather, or others. You would also need additional supplies such as craft paper, a seam ripper, a black marker, a pair of fabric scissors and any other materials you might need. The second step is to take your seats apart. When taking apart the material from the seats use your seam ripper and make sure to do so carefully so as not to rip out the foam underneath. Third, make the pattern for your seat cover. Set the fabric down above the craft paper and draw around it, leaving lots of extra space for the seam. Next, lay the fabric and the craft paper on the frame of the seat and pin them down along the sides. Make sure that you do so especially in the corners to hold the pieces in place. Finally, sew the fabric together. Now you can show off your great designer seat covers, made entirely by you!
